    Carpool

    Carpool

Each morning you are warmly greeted by our staff at carpool. We help your child out of the car and into the building to start their morning.

    Free Play

    Free Play

Free play is an important part of our day at Promises. It allows the children to discover interests ; develop social skills ; create decision-making skills ; and builds their imagination.

    Circle Time

    Circle Time

Circle is a vital part of our play-based program at Promises. It includes greeting each other, reviewing the calendar, reading stories, singing songs, discussion of the theme, and group activities.

    Sensory Play

    Sensory Play

Sensory play is beneficial for language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving, and regulating emotions. In the classrooms, a variety of items are used for sensory play- sand, water, play-doh, cotton balls, etc.

    Chapel

    Chapel

Once a week each our classes gather in the chapel to learn about God's love.

    Music

    Music

Music is a special time of week for all of the children. They enjoy this extension of what they are learning in the classroom while moving their bodies.

    Outdoor Play

    Outdoor Play

Everyday the classes at Promises enjoy time outside on the playground as well as other fun activities in our open play area. Don't worry we have an indoor play space for those days when the weather isn't favorable.

    Chapel
As a ministry of Three Chopt Presbyterian Church, our goal is to instill a love for God and all of His blessings to us. We have a monthly Bible verse, song, and a mission extension. The mission activity is an extension of the lessons learned at chapel to take out into the home and community to reinforce those concepts. Each week a staff member from TCPC hosts chapel upstairs in the sanctuary.
    Music
The children at Promises Preschool enjoy music each week with Ms. Sherry. Music is often thought of simply as entertainment, but it also has the power to manage feelings and their resultant behavior. For children, especially, music can help instill calm, promote self-regulation, and impart joy. We are not just singing songs; we are also moving our bodies. Just as music has the power to help manage behavior, it also helps support cognitive and language development. Rhythmic patterns in music can improve children’s abilities to detect and predict patterns in speech. The elongated syllables in songs and repetition of lyrics give children more time to think, shape the mouth, and coordinate breath. Variations of pitch and inflection in songs and chants support the development of expressive language, and rhyming supports phonological awareness. Each month, they focus on the chapel song, a nursery rhyme, and the season and/or holiday. The children showcase what they learn a few times a year during programs held for the families and parents.
    Indoor Gross Motor
When the weather outside isn't favorable we have a large indoor play area with a variety of equipment. Scooters, balls, pop-up tents, and gymnastics mats allow the children time to exercise those large muscles when the weather isn't favorable OR in addition to their outside play time.
    Learning without Tears
Learing without Tears curriculum is designed to make legible and fluent handwriting an automatic, mastered skill. Our PreK teachers are trained and implement the PreK leveled kit and curriculum. It helps children of different abilities develop crucial readiness and pre-writing skills such as music and movement, building and drawing, and basic habits for proper letter and number formation.
    .........and more
Promises offers even more "extras" that are included during the school day. The children enjoyed a "pumpkin patch" right outside our playgrounds to pick their own pumpkin for Fall Fun Day. We celebrate Fire Safety Awareness Week with a visit from Henrico County Fire. Water Safety Presentation with a local swim school. Field Day and parent picnics....and MORE!
